The Body Shop Vitamin-E Sink-In Moisture Mask

The Body Shop | Vitamin-E Sink-In Moisture Mask
HK $219

Love it! Just bought this yesterday, and I'll continue using this every night. It's like a night cream, except it's ten times more hydrating, perfect for dry skin. It's quite a thin layer, but it does the job of rejuvenating your skin really well. All you have to do is rinse your face, dab it dry, and apply this moisture mask. There is no need to wash it off. Let the moisture sink in, and wake up to a fresh face. It smells really good too!

Out of all the Vitamin-E products that The Body Shop has launched, I believe this could be the best.

In-flight schedule

My guest entry for Fashionography:

Hello readers! First a very big thank you to Fashionography for inviting me to do an entry. The three elements - beauty, styling and charisma, can work a magic combo. Blend unique traits, a fabulous wardrobe, and a fresh face; success is bound to be yours! Now Fashionography leaves no excuse to miss exciting trend updates, and I'm here to add a few secrets on the beauty front. Enjoy!

Travel Essentials

You can fit all you want in your make up kit, and stuff it into your luggage - not a problem. But when you want to make your purse as light as possible, choosing what make-up to put in it can be a dilemma. Here are some products that you should keep with you on-board!
  • Moisturizer
  • Lip balm
  • Lipstick and/or lip & cheek stain
  • Kohl
  • Mini Perfume
  • Comb
And if it's a long haul flight, these extra items. Simply because you have lots of time to spare. ;)
  • Nail Polish
  • Nail Polish remover pads
Now for some specific reviews on what's good to carry, keeping in mind the 100ml rule:

The Body Shop | Moringa Milk Body Lotion
60 ml (The sample edition) | Leaves a fresh scent and a hydrating sensation

Unfortunately, not available in all Body Shops. The travel size is available at The Body Shop outlet in Tung Chung. In addition to the scent, the best feature is that it's a spray. No messy hands, and no messy leaking containers. Can refill too!

The Body Shop | Lip & Cheek Stain
8 ml | Rosy effect for eyes and lips

A product that can be used as a blush and as lipstick. It gives a good rosy hint of color, yet does not feel sticky and uncomfortable. Just dab a few times, and smudge with fingertips. It gives a flushed look, and perfect for a 30 second touch up before landing.

 Nail Polish Remover Pads

Available at Sasa, these pads are perfect for inflight. Keep a tissue handy to wipe away any excess oil remains. And make sure to take out and seperate a few pieces for cleanup before you start applying nailpolish, as 2 or 3 are often stuck together. Since there are hours before the flight lands, you can take all the time needed to keep yourself busy and give yourself a perfect manicure on board. =)

MAC | Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15

A handy item that does a beautiful combination of lipbalm and lipstick. A simple and creamy product - thank god for no shimmer!

That's all for product recommendations! The rest of the items, you can carry your standard ones. Once again, thanks Fashionography for letting me share my ideas here! Oh, and have a safe trip! ;)

Friday's Fragrance

For this week's selection, my favorite is the White Musk scent from The Body Shop.

The Body Shop White Musk
Eau De Parfum 30 mL
HK $239

This is a velvety, sensual fragrance that lasts for hours.
Being an eau de parfum, it is the most concentrated, longest lasting, and strongest form of fragrance. Moreover, the size is perfect to fit in your handbag. Not fruity at all, and it's not a perfume that smells sweet, but instead, it's one of those that smells fresh and morning-like. Love it!

The Body Shop White Musk
Eau De Toilette 30 mL
HK $159

Giving the same fragrance as the Eau De Parfum, the difference is that this is a lighter version. Oftenly used as a body splash. If choosing between the two, I'd recommend buying the Eau De Parfum. It gives a stronger fragrance, and a longer lasting one. As this is a fragrance that is not fruity at all or so sweet that its sickening, it's a refreshing blend.

Make-Up Removers

Make-Up removers reviewed! There are different types of removers in the market: oils, creams, clear solutions, wipes. I would recommend using waterproof removers, as most make-up now tends to be waterproof.

L'oreal Gentle Waterproof Eye and Lip Makeup Remover
HK $70
(9/10)

This is the best make-up remover from my experience. It is waterproof, removes eye make-up instantly, is oil-free, and inexpensive. The most difficult product to remove is a good kohl, but this remover does a fantastic job in removing it. There will be no traces left. Also, suitable for all skin types, dermatologist-tested and safe for contact lens wearers. Definitely a product worth re-stocking on. Shake before use.

Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye Make-Up Remover
HK $120
(8/10)

This is the best cream make-up remover that I've used. It can wipe off the thickest waterproof mascara, and leaves your skin feeling refreshed. However, this does not completely remove kohl, and can sting your eyes as the product goes in. If you don't have to re-apply make-up immediately, then this is highly recommended!

Andrea  Eye Q's Eye Makeup Remover Pads
HK $45
(6/10)

There are a variety of these in the market. 65 pads in one box. The pads are really small, so you end up using at least 5 at one go. You need tissue to wipe your face afterwards as it generally leaves a very slight greasy film. This does not work so well for waterproof make-up. Suitable for contact lens wearers, and is handy while traveling.

 Comodynes Make-Up Remover wipes
HK $50
(7/10)

The wipes do a decent job of removing make-up. Not 100% effective, but wipes do give a refreshed feeling, especially if they have a soft fragrance to it. There are a variety of wipes in the market. Choose according to your skin type. I generally use a wipe after I have used a make-up remover solution, just so it feels like everything is off, leaving a refreshed feeling. Wipes are good choices for travel.

A rule of thumb for a good make-up remover, is to buy a clear formula that is suitable for all skin types. My standard buy is the L'oreal Waterproof eye and lip make up remover. Apply moisturizer afterwards if you have to.

Hong Kong Treats

Here are some local must-buys! Hong Kong offers a wide range of products, and all of them are easily accessible so you can experiment with different companies to see what suits best with your skin and color.

It's difficult to decide what to buy, or should I say, what NOT to buy, when Bobbi Brown is on your left, MAC is on your right, and Body Shop is in front of you. Here is a little help :)

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain

Rose Pink

This is an awesome product that is non-messy, handy and great for quick fixes. You can use it to give you a flushed look for your cheeks, and to add a little color to your lips. You know the cherry glow that you get when you've come back from a run or when you've been biting your lips? This will help you get that.

Just dab onto your cheeks, and blend it into your skin with your fingertips in a circular motion. Use this on the apples of your cheeks. As for your lips, do the same thing. Dab onto your lips and use your fingertips to blend, paying extra attention when you're blending on your upper lip so you don't color out of the line. As the color is strong, start with a few drops and then add if you feel necessary.

The best feature about this product is that it is a stain. You know sometimes when your hair blows onto your face, and because of your lip gloss it gets stuck? It won't happen this time, because there is no texture, yet there is color!

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner

Black

This creamy eyeliner is smudge-proof, waterproof and an intense shade of black. Use the brush to paint it on your eyelids or on your waterline (where the kohl goes). The brush is an excellent buy with the eyeliner as you can do a thick line or a thin line and it turns out smooth! (most brushes can't achieve the smooth feature and the end result ends up having a rigid staircase effect)

After you've used the brush a few times, it will tend to harden. When you want to apply this gel eyeliner the next time, before dipping your brush into the gel, press it onto your hand a few times to soften it. Once you've done this, it will be easier to apply the eyeliner and the result will be much smoother.
